Deacon Sam C. Wade passed Sunday, May 21, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alberta Johns Wade; father, Oliver Wade; sister, Georgia Brown; and step-mother, Mary J. Wade.
Sam was a faithful member of Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church until his health began to fail him. His special prayer with words was, “When my footsteps get short and my eyes get dim, I know I am on my way to the kingdom.”
He was a graduate of Holloway High School. Sam served his country in the United States Army early in life. He was employed with General Electric for 29 years and 3 months. As a faithful member of Cherry Grove, he served on several committees: the Usher Board as president, Men’s Chorus, the hospitality committee and the Deacon Board.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a very devoted wife of 53 years, Louise W. Wade; a loving devoted daughter, Cynthia Wade Crook; a devoted son-in-law, Joseph C. Crook; one devoted granddaughter, Mallory Louise Crook; one sister, Amanda Rankins; and one brother, Robert L. Wade; two sisters-in-law; Queenie Woods and Mary Crawford; brother-in-law, Houston (Addie) Wellington; devoted first cousins: Willie and Patricia Albert of Hopkinsville, KY and Charles Wade of Murfreesboro, TN. Sam was also blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
