Maggie, the daughter of the late Robert Smith and the late Sarah Osborne was born on October 30, 1921 in Rucker Community, Tennessee. She was educated in the Rutherford County School System and was a dedicated employee at Chromalox for over 25 years. At the time of her death, Maggie was the oldest living member of First Baptist Murfreesboro.
Maggie dedicated her life to the Lord at an early age. Through the many facets of her life, Maggie illustrated her love for the Lord. She was passionate about her faith and her commitment to serving. Her outpouring of compassion and kindness reached all that crossed her path. Her willingness to help others was demonstrated through her leadership, service and commitment to the First Baptist Murfreesboro Clothing Closet. She also served as a member of the Senior and Gospel Choirs, the Ardent Mission Workers Society, The Fifth Sunday Usher Board, and Sunday School Breakfast Ministry. Maggie was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Venus Chapter #61.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Daughter-in-law, Dorothy O. Vaughn of Fort Washington, MD; Granddaughters Jamise R. Harper of Fort Washington, MD and JaMiko R. Sapp of Windermere, FL; Great-Grandchildren Alexis C. Harper and Alvin C. Harper, Jr. of Fort Washington, MD; and Mercedes C. Sapp and Warren C. Sapp, II of Windermere, FL; nieces Yvonne Kelsey, Monya Taylor, Roberta Kimbrouh, Brenda Taylor, Ilene Hall, Kim Cole, Mary Walker, and nephews Donald Taylor, Melvin Jennings, Ralph W. Cole, Keith R. Cole, Raymond O. Cole, and Ford D. Cole of Chicago, IL; cousins Evelyn James, Arleen Mitchell and Marvin Richardson of Murfreesboro, TN and many more cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Retired Sergeant Major James Robert Vaughn, Jr. of Fort Washington, MD, and her sisters Evelyn Cole, Roberta Taylor, and Louise Ingram of Chicago, IL.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church on Castle Street. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
